YGAP First Gens Accelerator
YGAP is an International Development not-for-profit with an innovative approach to poverty alleviation. They focus on backing impact entrepreneurs - or ‘local leaders’ - with solutions to local problems in some of the world’s toughest communities.
Supported through LaunchVic's third funding round, YGAP’s First Gens program supports migrant and refugee led social impact ventures that are improving the lives of people living in disadvantage in Australia. Over 2 years, the program will support 36 startups led by new migrants or refugees over 2 years.
Each First Gens Program will consist of a five-day live-in accelerator followed by three months of creative support, strategy sessions, monthly meetups, business mentorship, legal and accounting help and access to small grants of up to $1000. At the end of the support phase a Pitch Event will be held, giving each of the entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch to impact investors, philanthropists, entrepreneurs and industry leaders.
YGAP will also be conducting a series of workshops in Melbourne and regional Victoria to help build startups around problems affecting at risk or disadvantaged refugees and or migrants.
