The Australian Sports Technologies Network (ASTN) provides leadership in the commercialisation, development and promotion of Australian-inspired sports technologies. Established in 2012 the ASTN is an industry-led Australian ecosystem of organisations with a vested interest in sports technology development
Supported through LaunchVic's first funding round with $280,000, ASTN took 20 sports technology startups through its accelerator program. As a result of ASTN's success, a further $350,000 was granted to deliver four Accelerator Programs for 16 Scaling Sports Startups across 2019-2020, with a focus on human performance and sports technology sectors including areas such as stadiums and venues, injury prevention, high performance, fan engagement, business leadership, coaching, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
In partnership with Vumero, ASTN also ran two sports analytics championships (hackathons) and two masterclasses to celebrate sports data, sports marketing and human performance in 2019 and 2020 as part of the Melbourne Sports Technology & Human Performance week.
ASTN received an additional $414,000 in December 2020 to support a further 30 startups across 5 cohorts of the Accelerator program across 2021, 2022 & 2023. ASTN will also deliver the Open Innovation Pathway program, which will include at least five masterclasses and business matching.
