Local founders representing Victoria’s startup ecosystem globally have been recognised at the 2024 Governor of Victoria Startup Awards.

The awards are proudly supported by Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria, with the winners celebrated at a reception at Government House overnight.

DAS—Digital Agriculture Services– took out Startup of the Year for its satellite mapping technology, which performs productivity and disaster risk assessments on rural properties from space.

Founded in 2017 in partnership with the CSIRO, DAS has a vision to ensure any farmer, grower or owner can access independent, “one click” insights backed by science.

Acusensus was awarded Scaleup of the Year following a successful listing on the Australian Securities Exchange and $20 million IPO capital raise in January 2023.

The company – which adds AI to road safety cameras to detect distracted drivers – also opened a USA manufacturing facility in Las Vegas and an outpost in the United Kingdom as a base for future expansion.

Best Newcomer was jointly awarded to BuildPass – a ConstructionTech streamlining site operations –   and Jupiter Ionics – an emerging BioTech developing breakthrough Green Ammonia production technology for the agriculture and energy sectors.

HEX CEO and Co-Founder Jeanette Cheah was celebrated as Ecosystem Hero of the Year for her global advocacy of Victorian startups, while Jodie Imam and Rachel Yang were jointly recognised as Investor of the Year for their work activating capital for purpose-driven founders.
