Project Ngarrimili: Igniting and Nurturing Aboriginal Excellence

Meaning ‘to dance’ in Wadawurrung, Ngarrimili will inspire and nurture entrepreneurial excellence amongst Aboriginal communities across Victoria.

Ngarrimili received $492,500 of grant funding through LaunchVic's seventh funding round. Ngarrimili's program is for Aboriginal-led ventures, designed to support cultural wellbeing and commercial needs. The program will inspire and nurture entrepreneurial excellence amongst Aboriginal communities across Victoria via three programs:

Ignite: workshops to ignite local Aboriginal people to pursue entrepreneurship.
Accelerate: workshops to support pre-revenue startups led by Aboriginal people to articulate and validate their concepts.
Enhance: an incubator program for Aboriginal-led ventures designed to support cultural wellbeing and commercial needs.

Ngarrimili received an additional $201,750 in December 2020 to extend their program. The funding will support a series of online workshops for First Nations businesses; an additional 15 Victorian startups; and the recruitment of five First Nations mentors. LaunchVic received this additional funding as part of the Victorian Government’s Tharamba Bugheen - the Victorian Aboriginal Business Strategy 2017-2021.
